Kate Short is a singer-songwriter currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Drawing from Americana, bluegrass, and folk, she blends honest lyricism with sensitive production, using lush harmonies and a variety of folk instruments.

Graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Comparative Literature, Kate draws upon classical and modern literary themes in her songs to illuminate her own personal questions, creating cross-genre stories that evoke timelessness and nostalgia. Her guitar-based live performances center on her captivating voice and personal storytelling, and she toured her album “Seasons” through the UK and Ireland in August 2023. She toured through New Mexico, Colorado, and Texas with her “Homestate Tour” (featuring her sibling Brendan Short on guitar, mandolin and backup harmonies) summer of 2025.
